A dental clinic was closed on Tuesday (April 14) night for violating several laws and operating without a licence from the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA).
According to NHRA chief executive Dr Mariam Al Jalahma the decision to shut down the clinic came as a result of violations in practising medicine and the lack of medical staff.
She also revealed that the clinic breached national directives and circulars to suspend all non-emergency medical procedures, which caused the clinic to lose its licence.
“The NHRA had issued a circular regarding the continued suspension of non-emergency health procedures and services in private health institutions,” she said in a statement.
“The authority has also continued with the closure of private medical facilities as a precautionary measure against the spread of the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19).
“The NHRA announced that the temporary suspension of non-emergency medical procedures will continue in dental, dermatology, and plastic surgery departments as well as some alternative medicine in private health institutions and delayed pregnancy treatments in all health institutions until April 23.”
