15 Jul Jon Cartu Divulge: Dental Clinic In Wright County Gets Increase In Funding In
The proposed dental clinic that has been a component piece of the construction of the new Wright County Government Center got some surprisingly good news this week despite political in-fighting at the State Legislature.
The Legislature is back in special session this week and the hope is to get a bonding bill finalized. The House and Senate have competing versions of bonding bills that are greatly different, but one commonality both share is that they include bonding for the Wright County dental clinic, which would be utilized by low-income families that can’t afford traditional dental care.
When the Legislature convened in May without coming to an agreement on the bonding bill, both bills had the dental clinic included with $1 million in funding.
Although both bills have been modified in the two months since, one change that wasn’t expected was that both the House and Senate bill versions now have $1.4 million in funding for the clinic, thanks to efforts of Wright County’s legislative delegation working to push the item through as part of the larger bonding bill.
Given the partisan politics that have prevented the bonding bill from going through, it appears as though the dental clinic will be part of both when an agreement is finally reached and, barring a last-minute change, the clinic will be one big step closer to fruition.
